Visual Effects Big Chip Web Awards

We were commissioned by production company Shoot Cut Go to design and produce a show opening animated title sequence for the annual Big Chip Awards ceremony in 2011.

Visual Effects can be used in a way that turns heads, in this case a piece that grabs the attention of a few hundred people in a room. During the planning process we were supplied the relevant assets from the various companies in the running for an award in Manchester on the night. We came up with a theme that reflected the genre of business we were dealing with – digital!

The client and the awards ceremony ended up with a big screen introduction to match the prestigious evening itself. The sequence was created using Adobe’s After Effects, and various 3D plugins to create the depth and style I went for.

This animation was created with no video to work with. I had the images of the digital portals nominated in the awards that evening, and a running order. The star scape I created using particles, as I did with the smoke and dust trails in the animation. Even the drifting cartoon spaceman I created in Illustrator. The music sets the piece up nicely, as always, audio plays a major part in any animation. With a little creative imagination and know how, a lot can be achieved.
